If you are driving car in São Paulo you should take care about the new speed cameras on the main roads.
For example the are a lot of newly installed speed cameras on the Av. Rubem Berta and Washington Luis between Parque Ibirapuera and Interlagos. Most sure there are on other streets, too.
There existed some speed cameras in the year before, but most of them are not working or even dummies. But now they seem to work. In addition the maximum speed changed on some parts of the street from 80km/h to 60km/h.
The problem is that you will not see any flash coming out of the camera. So there is no indication that it is working now. Only after about 3 weeks you’ll get notice that you have been to fast. In this three weeks you could have collected a lot of tickets, even if you have been too fast only 10km/h. So don’t drive to fast anymore in São Paulo.
Remarks about the situation in other cities of Brazil are welcome.
