Google Maps with Traffic in Rio and Sao Paulo – Brazil

By the way: Google Maps with traffic information does work like a charm in São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro. I tried and used it on my Nokia E71 all the time three month from past December to February.

I was co-driver and had my E71 always in my hands. I found a Brazil internet SIM card for only 29 Reais a month which is only 16 US dollars. So I loaded Google Maps on my E71.

When driving you constantly see where you are and what the traffic ahead of you us. So you can decide which roads to take and which ones better not.

Google Maps takes the information about the traffic from GSM operators which do give information about the location of mobile phones. But this information is not very accurate. I had the feeling that Google also took the information from us. Because the E71 does have a GPS inside and can report back the position to Google within some meters. I had the feeling that Google took our position because from time to time I found streets without any traffic information. But as soon as we passed this section of the road Google did display traffic information in this part of the street. This happened quite often.
