Soccer

Since yesterday it is raining heavily in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Today there were many floodings to report. Lagoa Rodrigo de Freitas is swamping over and there are a lot of streets washed away by the rain. There are already 79 casualties to report.

According to media report Rio de Janeiros most famous disco and nightclub  Help was closed some month ago. There were rumours for some month that the will be closed. A plane crashed during an Air Show on good Friday in Santa Catarina in southern Brazil. The pilot died.

By the way: Google Maps with traffic information does work like a charm in São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro. I tried and used it on my Nokia E71 all the time three month from past December to February.

If you are driving car in São Paulo you should take care about the new speed cameras on the main roads.

On June, 21th 2009 Brazil will play against Italy in a Confed Cup soccer game in Pretoria, South Africa. This is a game for the preparation to the soccer WC 2009.

According to press sources disappeared an Airbus from Air France during its flight from Rio de Janeiro to Paris. The airplane sent an automatic message telling that an electric circuit failure as it hit turbulences. Other sources are talking about an flash strike in heavy thunderstorm. After that radar contact was lost with the plane. It is supposed to have crashed in the Atlantic between the northern Brazil island Fernando de Noronha and Africa.

The plane was carrying 228 people.

The world has something to watch. The influenza epidemic. Or will it be  pandemic? Two days ago this influenza virus was not even mentioned in the news. But now. It is already everywhere. In Mexico, New York, California and Spain. Almost every hours there are more places mentioned in the news.

So it could only be a matter of time until we are not allowed anymore to fly around the world. But will this help? The virus seems to be already everywhere.

If it will really come to this point that the biggest airports around will be closed then this will another level of the financial crisis. This would be the end for a lot of airlines.

Lets hope that thing are not going so worse. Or is it just something to draw off the attention from the world wide financial crisis?
